| Bio | She grew up as member of a sporting family. Her father played golf, football and billiards for Oxfordshire, and her mother was Midlands junior champion for swimming. Joy's brother was a rugby player and a tennis umpire at AELTC Wimbledon and at the French Championships, in Paris. Joy was also like playing golf on a competitive level throughout her life, however her favorite sport remained always tennis. In 1929, at the age of 9, she started playing tennis and was soon entering tournaments in Hampshire. |
